We are really excited to be running our first fully out door 1 day mini retreat tomorrow.
We will be focussing on self care and considering how the Spring equinox is a turning point.
For centuries, the Spring Equinox has symbolised renewal — a time to step out of winter’s stillness and embrace new growth. Ancient celebrations often centred on the interplay of light and dark, recognising that both are essential for balance.
Blossom is emerging and despite overnight frosts the increasing warmth from sun, as it climbs higher in the sky, is encouraging bees and foraging brimstone butterflies out and about.
Fun fact: Brimstones are possibly the namesake of the word “Butter fly” due to their distictive butter yellow wings. Also – their proboscis is evolved especially long to be able to reach nectar deep inside long flowers like the primrose – which they happen to so beautifully colour coordinate with.
It can be useful to see the Equinox as a gateway — a moment to pause, reflect, and reset. This seasonal shift can be a cue to consider balance in our wellbeing. One option is to consider the “6 pillars of lifestyle” as a framework to build on:
- Mindful Eating: What fresh, seasonal foods could you include in your diet?
- Physical Activity: how can you move your body in a way that feels joyful and energising, rather than draining?
- Restorative Sleep: As mornings grow brighter, how might you increase your regular daylight exposure?
- Pausing for Calm: Could this be the season to include quiet moments outdoors amidst your weekly routines?
- Meaningful Connection: How can you nurture a relationship that uplifts and sustains you?
- Letting Go of What No Longer Serves: The Equinox can be a perfect moment to relinquish unhelpful patterns or habits.
The Equinox is a reminder that balance isn’t about perfection; it’s about small, thoughtful adjustments.
