Dear lovely community,
You may have noticed there wasn’t a March newsletter… That’s because March was full to the brim with “things” – mostly exciting and inspiring, but also a fair bit of normal life and behind the scenes work: admin, finances, kids, family responsibilities and the expected-but-nonetheless-sad demise of our much loved family dog. So I let go of some things – and am working on being compassionate because only time will tell whether some of my decisions were “right” or not!!!
Self care has been essential:
This month my focus is “priorities”. I have had to be very clear with myself to notice and avoid falling back into old, potentially self destructive habits like saying “yes” to too much, or being the DIY queen when other people could do it better (and save me the stress)! I am the owner and director of my company which I LOVE doing, but I am also my own leader, and have responsibility to myself to:
- Decide what things are necessary NOW versus what can wait
- Decide what is “MINE” versus what can be “let go of” – and either delegated or simply not get done
- and finally (and possibly most importantly)
- To observe and value what I have done, and offer myself reward and/ or appropriate rest and recovery to be able to continue to be the best I can be.
How will you choose to focus your self leadership this month? Maybe choose some compass words. Mine for this week are clarity and lightness. I will add in some compassion and energy whenever they are lacking…
Here are some of my March highlights …
🌿 Outdoor Retreat Day
We ran our first ever fully outdoor one-day retreat in the Walled Garden at Hungerford. It was a beautiful, peaceful day – full of bird song, fresh air, coaching conversations and gentle practices designed to shift energy and perspective.
Here’s what some participants said:
“I am pretty self-aware but was surprised to discover new things.”
“I really embraced this day in a positive light… I felt good about my life, which is in a better state than I thought!”
“This reminded me to dim the inner critic more often.”
“I left feeling calm and hopeful – and I came away with practical tools I can use to shift state when I need to cope or perform better. Thank you, Jo.”
We’ll be returning to Hungerford Park for another one-day retreat later this year – date to be confirmed. If you’d like to be the first to hear when booking opens, please join the waiting list.
🧭 The Sustainable Healer Conference – Inverness
An energising highlight for me was attending the Sustainable Healer Conference, hosted by the fabulous Kath Jones in Inverness. It was two enlivening days in a room full of like-minded people – coaches, clinicians, creatives and changemakers – united by a shared vision of achieving better health and wellness not from intervention, but from empowerment – through coaching, listening, lifestyle shifts, community, creativity, and a whole-person approach to care.
I learnt from shared lived experiences, experts and practitioners, and it reminded me why I do this work, and why it matters.
📆 Upcoming Retreats – and some exciting new projects:
